First up for Collective's New Work Scotland Programme 2007 (NWSP) is Glasgow School of Art graduate, Holly McCulloch. NWSP lies at the heart of Collective's Professional Development Programme and creates a dedicated three month period for the support and development of new artists in Scotland through exhibiting, writing and event opportunities.
Holly's exhibition features new work as part of an ongoing project where six basic colours of six dresses form the starting point for an investigation into the social and political meanings attached to colour. The drawings, sculpture and video featured in this installation describe the hierarchical statement of the colours in a mimicry of bureaucratic systems and institutional structures.
