In its third year, Platform and GSA's Sculpture and Environmental Art have worked in collaboration to offer the unique opportunity for final year students to create site related works at Platform, The Bridge. Over the past few months a selection of fourth year students have developed new art work in response to the architecture, surrounding area and the functions of the different facilities in The Bridge.

The exhibition will engage with the users of Platform and The Bridge in a variety of different ways, by exhibiting pieces of art works in unusual locations within the building; challenging our expectations and perceptions of visual art.

The exhibition will feature art works in the form of sculpture, film, photography, sound, installation, text and performance.

REVIEW - MAR THU 2 / 6PM – 8PM
EXHIBITION - MAR FRI 4 – MAR SAT 19

Platform is delighted to announce the opening of a unique exhibition created in collaboration with The Glasgow School of Art.

As part of their academic year in fourth year, students work independently to make site specific work or deliver an exhibition. This project has involved the students to consider Platform and the Bridge as a site for a new piece of work to be developed and experienced.

A selection of students have used the past few months to develop new work in reaction to architectural sites around the building as well as considering the functions in areas such as the café, library and pool as well as leading to numerous collaborations between the students and Glasgow Life, John Wheatley College and local writers.

This has developed into an exhibition that features sculpture, photography, film and sound pieces.

Work by the following people will also be featured in the exhibition:
Lesley Anne Allen, Louise Boyce, Aimee Cameron, Noel Connolly, Alana Hillis, Jax McCauley, Kirsten McLachlan, Kirsty Miller and Kevin Wood.

Central Station: Mhairi Sharp in the LIST

Our showcase of up-and-coming young talent in association with Central Station focuses on the work of Mhairi Sharp, currently in her final year studying sculpture at the Glasgow School of Art. Her physical objects, text-based works, photography and found objects explore nostalgia for 80s football casuals and terrace culture, in particular the fashion of this sub-culture. Mhairi says of her work: ‘I strive to provoke reflection and pay tribute to this lesser know sub-culture to which football and fashion mattered more, than corporate hospitality and sanitised stadia … I am able to move my work both inside and outside of the gallery environment; allowing my work to be viewed by different audiences.
